Selander secures top spot in MJT Saskatchewan stop

Prince Albert, SK – (August 27, 2012) – Torrential rain affected the MJT Saskatchewan Series at Elk Ridge Resort in Waskesiu, Saskatchewan, on August 25th and 26th, where two of the four divisions in the Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) event managed to complete all 36 holes, competing for division titles plus the chance to qualify for the Future Collegiate World Tour’s (FCWT) PGA West event this December in La Quinta, CA, USA.

Cory Selander, 15, of Prince Albert, SK, fired 71-73 in difficult conditions to secure the Low Overall and the MJT Boys 14-16 title over Tyrin Foley, 16, of Bengough, SK (81-73), and Anthony Neufeld, 16, of Riverside Estates, SK (77-77), who both shot 154 and finished tied for second place. “Making an eagle from 100 yards in the rain was definitely the highlight and a huge reason for my victory,” said Selander, who receives the FCWT PGA West spot exemption. “The course was in incredible shape. It was unfortunate it had to rain because it was hard to enjoy. Coming down the stretch I was thinking that all I needed to do was make pars because I knew I had a large lead; it feels good (to win) because I have been in the top three in the prior tournaments and was finally able to win.”
