Four MJT-PGA of Alberta Junior Champions crowned after 54 hole championship

Calgary, AB – (August 10, 2012) – The Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s (MJT) PGA of Alberta Junior Championship welcomed nearly 80 players to the 54-hole Golf Canada-ranked tournament (on CN Future Links National Order of Merit) at McKenzie Meadows Golf Club in Calgary, AB, on August 7th, 8th and 9th. Near perfect weather and scoring conditions were enjoyed by the field which saw four division champions crowned, with Calgary’s Brayden Brown also receiving valuable American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Performance Stars as well as an exemption into the prestigious Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour’s (RMJGT) Tour Championship at McCormick Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ, USA, this December.

Brown, 17, won the MJT-PGA of Alberta Junior Boys 17-19 title and Low Overall Honours on the very difficult McKenzie Meadows golf course, after firing great rounds of 70-70-72. “I made a lot of clutch putts for par down the stretch,” he said. “Evan (Holmes) had a putt to tie on the last hole, and barely missed or we would have gone into a playoff.” Runner-up in this division with three fine rounds of 74-68-71 was Evan Holmes, 17, of Calgary, followed by Geoff Fry, 17, also of Calgary, who closed with a three-under-par 69 to place third (70-75-69).
