Termuende qualifies for Florida at MJT’s 1st Choice Savings One Day stop at Land-O-Lakes

Coaldale, A.B. – (April 16, 2012) – With cool temperatures for most of the day, winds whipping up and snow in the forecast, Joel Termuende, 17, of Cranbrook, BC, played very solid golf on April 14 at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s 1st Choice Savings One Day Season Opener in Alberta at Land-O-Lakes Golf Club in Coaldale. Termuende had to battle strong winds and difficult conditions to carve out a 75 (+4), winning the Boys 17-19 Division after fending off local Ryan O’Donnell, 19, of Lethbridge, AB, by three shots (78). Scott Merriam, 17, of Cranbrook, BC. finished in third position on the division after carding a round of 82.

“It’s a good feeling (to win), it’s my first win on the MJT since I was 13 years old,” said Termuende whose home course in Cranbrook is closed and still covered with snow. Termuende cited getting the ball up and down in the wind, along with patience, as the key to his victory and his win as his tournament highlight. He receives an exemption into the FCWT National Championship in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida this May.
