Teron shines through rain-shortened RedTail Landing event on MJT

For Immediate Release - Nisku, AB – (July 28, 2011) –
Following three days of heavy rain, the skies finally cleared on July 25th in time for round one of the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT Prodigy Series at Redtail Landing in Nisku, Alberta. The story, however, was not so pleasant on day two as again the downpour resumed and play was forced to stop. As the course became unplayable, the decision was made the shorten the 36 hole event to 18 holes and award prizes based on the round one leaders. Occasionally, in situations like this, some players may feel an asterisk should apply to winner’s names, however for the case of low overall leader Jesse Teron, his number will speak for itself.

Teron, 17, of Red Deer, AB, fired a six under 66 to firmly grab first place and was awarded first place for the Boy’s 17-19. With his win, Teron also receives an exemption into the Future Collegiate’s World Tour (FCWT) Notre Dame University Championship, to be played at Warren Golf Club at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana, this October. “I have been working on this since last August, and it finally came together,” he said. “This is my lowest competitive round ever! This is a great tour, good competition and a great course. Overall, the best tour! It feels awesome (to win)!! I have not won since August of 09, so this feels great to break through. It was my first bogey free round ever!”
