Six-under-Par paving Roadley’s ‘Road to College Golf’ on the MJT at Winkler

For Immediate Release – Winkler, MB – (June 13, 2011) – The Winkler Centennial Golf Club in Winkler, Manitoba, was the site of some great junior golf performances over the weekend as 67 young players competed in the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT Manitoba Series presented by Lethbridge College. Lethbridge College sponsors three events on the MJT and offers $500 scholarships to players who enter their Professional Golf Management Program and compete on the golf team, all part of the MJT being the ‘Road to College Golf’ for aspiring young players in Canada.

Although players enjoyed calm and sunny skies during round one at Winkler, windy, tough conditions prevailed on day two to yield some higher than normal scores for most in the field. Not so for Winnipeg’s Jenna Roadley, 17, who cleaned up in the Girls division, firing a blistering final round of 70 to run away with the gold medal (72-70=142). “It feels really good to win the title, but even better because I played very well,” said Roadley, who has won several times on the Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour with improvement each year, and has now earned a shortlisted spot on MJT Team Canada to the Srixon International Junior Classic in Australia this fall.
