Vancouver, B.C. - (October 19, 2009) – Despite the drenching rain on Saturday October 17th during the final stop in the One Day Srixon Series on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), held at University Golf Club in Vancouver, B.C., many great scores in the 70's were posted. The tournament featured players from as far afield as Pelican Rapids (Manitoba), Lethbridge (Alberta), and Bow, WA (USA), and heralded the end of the regular season in B.C. for the national non-profit program, with only the Tour Championship in Phoenix, AZ, still to play out this November.
Megan Osland, 16, of Kelowna, made the trip to Vancouver worth her while by beating Canadian Junior Girls Champion Soo Bin Kim, 16, of Port Coquitlam, by one stroke to win the Girls division with a score of two-under-par (70). “I’m really happy with the way I played today,” said Osland. “I knew with the way I was hitting the ball I could come in with a good score considering the conditions. The course was definitely in good shape for being this late in the season but unfortunately the weather didn’t stand up. We had some sunny breaks but for the most part played in a downpour.” Anica Yoo, 15, also of Port Coquitlam, placed third among the Girls with a score of 73.
