KISHI'S 6-UNDER CLAIMS CATTERMOLE GROUP CLASSIC CROWN AT KING'S LINKS
Delta, B.C. – (May 4, 2009) – Delta’s King’s Links Golf Club hosted the two-day Cattermole Group Classic on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour this past weekend, sponsored by long-time tour supporter, Cattermole Group. The competitive junior golfers were vying for division titles as well as a spot on MJT Team Canada to Scotland, to play in the Scotland Kingdom of Fife Team Matches this August.
On the opening day the winds were gusting at the links style Boundary Bay golf course. Some of the early competitors figured it was a four club wind coming right off the water. The boys 17-19 division leader Hiroki Kishi, 18, of Victoria, BC, fired a one-under-par 71 and found himself with a one shot lead over Beach Grove Golf Club's Michael Wawryk, 18, of Delta. In the boys 14-16 division, King's Links' Andrew Rasmussen, 16, of Delta, led with an even par 72. One shot back was Morgan Creek's Sunny Li, 14, of Surrey. The boys 13 and under division found Beach Grove's Matthew Davis, 13, of Delta, in the lead for his first time in competitive play with a fine score of 76. Finally in the girls division, Keanna Mason, 12, of Maple Ridge, shot 79 to take her place as the clubhouse leader.
