Horvath Qualifies for Texas
ALTON, ON – The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada’s only national junior tour run exclusively by Canadian PGA Professionals, held a two-day tournament at Osprey Valley Golf Resort in Alton on June 9th and 10th, which was also a qualifier for the Texas Junior Masters at Colovista Country Club in Bastrop, TX, this July.
Wade Chen, 12, of Toronto, fired rounds of 74-70 off the white tees for a total score of even-par 144, running away with the Boys 13 and under division title. “Coming down the stretch I was thinking, if I shoot something less than what I shot yesterday (+2), it would be very hard for the others to catch up,” said Chen, who cited his key to victory as consistency and accuracy. Tied for second place in the division were Matthew Speyer, 13, of Cambridge and a Galt Country Club junior, and Ryan Borg, 12, of Mississauga, both of whom shot back-to-back rounds of 75.
