MULDER WINS LOW OVERALL AT MJT CATTERMOLE TIMBER CLASSIC
Hyun Wins Team Spot To Texas
ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Local players dominated most age divisions in the opening round of the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s (MJT) stop sponsored by Cattermole Timber at Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford, B.C., this past weekend. Only one, however, held out to claim overall victory in their division. Ian Mulder, 18, of Abbotsford, fired 73-71 (144) to win among Boys 17 and up, and also take low overall honours in the tournament, which ran May 26th and 27th.
“Coming down the stretch I thought I must stay confident by knowing I have the ability to win and persevere,” said Mulder, who cited his tournament highlight as draining a 15-footer on hole 11 from the fringe for a birdie. Mulder shot a three-under-par 31 on the back nine to hold off Mike Broadfoot, 17, also of Abbotsford, who shot 73-76 (149) to place second in the division. Harrison Taylor, 17, of Langley, B.C., came in third with scores of 78-75 (153).
