MJT Mini Tour wraps six-month BC season with Musqueam finale in Vancouver
The six-month MJT Mini Tour season in British Columbia came to a close on September 20, as the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour returned to Vancouver’s Musqueam Golf Course, a scenic and player-friendly layout that provided a fitting setting for the final Mini Tour event of 2026.
A strong field of talented golfers aged 12 and under from across the province teed it up across five divisions, competing for the final titles of the year, custom medals, and an outstanding array of sponsor prizes.
The event capped a record-setting season for Canada’s #1-played Junior Golf Tour in British Columbia, marked by deeper fields, outstanding young talent, and continued growth across the province. With another memorable Mini Tour season now in the books, sights are already turning to 2027, with Early Bird Membership opening in early December.
Richmond’s Jimmy Guan, 12, secured the MJT Boys 11–12 title with a round of 70. Guan pointed to his chipping as the strongest part of his game and singled out ‘the putt on the first hole for par’ as the shot that stood out most from his day.
Maricela Murray of North Vancouver took home the MJT Girls 11–12 title after the 12-year-old posted a 70. Focused on ‘just trying to stay consistent and try my best,’ Murray finished with a memorable recovery on the final hole. “I pushed my drive, but then I chipped it close and made my putt,” she said.
Only one stroke separated all three medal positions in the MJT Boys 9–10 division, where nine-year-old Han Yua of Surrey came out on top with a 72. Yua identified his driver as a strength entering the tournament and kept his approach refreshingly simple, admitting, “I had no strategies.”
Nine-year-old Richmond golfer Paris Liu claimed the MJT Girls 9–10 division with a score of 68. Liu kept her approach straightforward, focusing on smart course management throughout the round. “Play smart, not risking to go over trees,” she said of her strategy, before summing up her experience simply: “MJT is great.”
Weston Monteleone, 8, made the trip from Kamloops with one clear goal: “To win.” He accomplished exactly that, taking the MJT Boys 8U title with a 75 and nearly adding a hole-in-one along the way. “Almost got a hole-in-one on hole 3. I hit the pin,” said Monteleone.
Top finisher scores are noted below. Full results, as well as winners of the Closest-to-the-Pin and Long Drive competitions, are posted on the MJT website
