Canada's #1 Junior Golf Tour

 

Canada's number one-played junior golf tour, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), returned to the picturesque Kingswood Resort in Fredericton, NB, on August 1–2, where nearly 60 young golfers competed across the MJT's Mini Tour and Junior Tour circuits during an exciting weekend of competition.
 

The MJT Mini Tour for athletes aged 12 and under teed off on August 1, while the two-day MJT PLYR Series tournament for athletes aged 19 and under was held August 1–2 as one of six national PLYR Series stops on the 2026 schedule. Junior Tour players competed across four divisions for titles, custom Maple Leaf crystal trophies, and PLYR gift certificates, with highlights of the results detailed below.

Moncton's Carter Lavigne, 16, delivered the performance of the tournament in the MJT Juvenile Boys division, opening with a sensational 6-under-par 65 before backing it up with a one-over-par 72 to finish at 137. Lavigne's impressive week featured 11 birdies and an eagle over 36 holes, earning a commanding victory and Low Overall Boys honours.

 

A superb opening-round 2-under-par 69 proved the difference for 17-year-old Maxime Anthony of Berry Mills, NB, who captured the MJT Junior Boys title with a 36-hole total of 148. Anthony carded eight birdies over the tournament and credited his success to a simple game plan: "To play my best and commit to every shot." Commenting on the host venue, he added, "Love the course."

 

Fourteen-year-old Archer MacDougall of Charlottetown, PE, opened with a 72 before adding a 74 to finish at 146 and claim top honours in the MJT Bantam Boys division. MacDougall tallied five birdies and an eagle over the championship, following a clear strategy: "My goal was to have no bogeys on any of the par fives and to not miss a green with a wedge in my hand." Afterward, he praised the event, saying, "10/10, MJT puts on a great event, and I can't wait to come back next year."

 

Representing Rothesay, NB, 12-year-old Charlotte Bannister was the sole competitor in the MJT Girls U15 division, gaining valuable tournament experience over two rounds at Kingswood Resort. Following the event, Bannister expressed her appreciation, saying, "I would like to thank MJT and the event organizers for putting together a great tournament." She also thanked those who supported her throughout the weekend, adding, "I would also like to thank my family, Connor, and my coaches for all their support this weekend."
