Waitlisted field battles with playoff finish at MJT Humber College PGM Classic
The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada's leading junior golf tour, welcomed a waitlisted field of talented junior golfers to Spring Lakes Golf Club in Stouffville, ON, on July 25–26 for the MJT Humber College PGM Classic. The tournament marked the second of two Humber College-supported events on the 2026 Ontario schedule.
Humber College was onsite sharing information about its two-year Business Administration – Professional Golf Management program, while MJT Diamond Partner Titleist offered custom club fittings for players throughout the weekend. Competitors battled in six divisions for custom Maple Leaf crystal trophies, fabulous prizes, and qualifying opportunities into the MJT National Tour Challenge later this fall.
Landon Kelly (18) of Lindsay, ON, prevailed in an MJT Junior Boys playoff after matching Rainer Bulau with rounds of 74-75 (149). Kelly sealed the title with a par on the second extra hole after sinking a 10-foot putt on the first playoff hole to keep his hopes alive. Reflecting on the clutch moment, he said, "I made a 10-foot putt on the first playoff hole to extend it to a second hole." Looking ahead, Kelly added, "I can't wait for the next event."
Sixteen-year-old Sahkhi Kaur Braich of Milton, ON, edged the field by a single stroke in the MJT Girls 15-19 division with scores of 84-80 (164). Braich credited her short game, saying, "The strongest part of my game was my chipping and putting. I felt very confident hitting shots around the green, which helped me a lot." She also praised the tournament experience, adding, "This event was amazing. The course is beautiful and the MJT team created a wonderful experience."
Fifteen-year-old Gavin Marsella of Aurora, ON, led the MJT Juvenile Boys division from start to finish, following an opening-round 71 (-1) with a 73 to post 144. Marsella's steady performance included six birdies and an eagle over the two rounds to secure the division title.
Ten-year-old Lanai Park of Oakville, ON, continued her standout season by adding another podium finish, earning the MJT Girls U15 title with rounds of 78 and 77 for a 155 total. Her consistent play throughout the weekend added another impressive result to an already strong 2026 campaign.
Toronto's Nathan He, 13, pieced together rounds of 77-76 (153) to secure the MJT Bantam Boys division. A six-birdie performance was fuelled by confident ball-striking, with He noting, "The strongest part of my game was probably my irons, my driver, and my wedges." His game plan was equally straightforward: "My strategy on the golf course was to make a few birdies and then par out for the rest."
Jacob Ding (12) of Oakville, ON, delivered matching rounds of 77 to claim the MJT Peewee Boys title at 154. His highlight came on the 14th hole, where he recalled, "I hit an 8 iron to 9 feet and made the putt," leading to a birdie. Ding was equally enthusiastic about the tournament itself, rating it ‘10/10, MJT has very good events, good job.’
