Ace and stacked 98-player field headline elite WAGR-ranked MJT adidas Golf Series at Grey Silo
A stellar field of nearly 100 junior golfers on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada's leading and most-played junior golf tour, returned to Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo, ON, from July 11-13, for the annual 2026 MJT adidas Golf Series, one of the Tour's elite three-day major championships and one of six adidas events on the national schedule.
The World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR)-ranked championship saw players competing across six divisions for titles, premium prizes, direct exemptions into the MJT National Tour Challenge in Ontario, and shortlist consideration for the Sergio Garcia Junior Championship in Spain. Raising the stakes, the popular, waitlisted event featured a 36-hole cut, with approximately the top 60% of players in the Bantam, Juvenile, and Junior Boys divisions advancing to Monday's finale. As the field narrowed, those who thrived under pressure produced exciting finishes at one of Ontario's marquee junior golf events.
One of the week's standout moments came during round 2, when 17-year-old Isaac Miller of Stoney Creek, ON, recorded a hole-in-one on the par-3 16th hole. Although he narrowly missed advancing to Monday's finale, the ace remained one of the defining highlights of the weekend.
Seventeen-year-old Mason Hamilton of Plattsville, ON, outlasted the field by a single stroke after firing excellent rounds of 73, 72, and 71 for a winning total of 216 as the MJT Junior Boys champion. Hamilton credited his grandparents for their unwavering encouragement, saying, "My grandparents are always a huge support every round that I play." Reflecting on the championship, he added, "Fantastic event and always the best with the MJT crew driving around on the course. The CWENCH and water helped so much in the heat. I wouldn't change a thing."
Richmond Hill's Lauren Perron, 17, rebounded with great rounds of 72 and 73 after her opening day to win the MJT Girls 15-19 champion’s title in style with a score of 224. Perron said her swing coach was instrumental in her preparation: "My swing Coach was a big help fine tuning little things in my swing to prepare me for this event." As the tournament reached its final stages, her focus remained on ‘playing steady golf and hitting as many greens as I could.’
A two-under-par 69, even-par final round, 10 birdies, and an eagle secured the MJT Juvenile Boys champion’s title by five strokes for Callum McDonald, 16, of Mount Forest, ON, after he emerged from a tightly contested division with a fantastic three-round total of 215. McDonald praised those around him, saying, "My family has always supported me throughout all of the ups and downs. My Coach, Braeden Cryderman has also supported me through everything." He also rated the championship ‘10/10,’ noting that ‘everything was run smoothly and the pace of play was fast.’
Twelve-year-old Sophia Noh of Richmond Hill, ON, put herself in contention for the champion’s title with back-to-back rounds of 74 before closing in style with a superb two-under-par 69 to finish atop the MJT Girls U15 division at 217. Noh appreciated the support she received throughout the week, saying, "My mom, my dad, my Coach, and a good Uncle of mine were cheering me on all three days." Her approach was aggressive from start to finish: "My strategy was to focus on getting birdies and going for the pin on every shot. Also to have fun!"
Markham's Max Sue, 13, saved his best for last, firing a brilliant three-under-par 68 in the final round to claim the MJT Bantam Boys champion’s title with a 215 total. Sue collected 10 birdies over the three-day championship and kept his attention where it mattered most: ‘Focus[ing] on myself.’ He also complimented the host venue and the tour, calling it a ‘very good course and very good staff.’
Nathan Khera, 11, of Oakville, ON, captured the MJT Peewee Boys championship after firing hot rounds of 72, 69, and 73 for a division-low 214. The second-round 69 helped set up his final-day charge, during which he stuck to a simple plan: ‘Try and make a ton of putts because I was behind coming into round three.’ Khera also praised the event, saying, "It was really well run and a lot of fun."
