Wallin wins hometown playoff to headline MJT ZEAL Series at Humboldt Golf Club

More than 130 athletes converged on Humboldt Golf Club in Humboldt, SK, on June 13-14 as the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada's leading and most-played junior golf tour, hosted a weekend of competition featuring both its Mini Tour and Junior Tour circuits.

As one of six stops on the national MJT ZEAL Series in 2026, the Junior Tour event brought golfers aged 19U together for 36 holes of competition across six divisions, with athletes battling for custom crystal Maple Leaf trophies, ZEAL Optics sunglasses, and qualifying opportunities into the MJT National Tour Challenge this fall in Ontario. The event showcased the impressive depth of junior golf talent from throughout Saskatchewan and beyond.

Results from the MJT ZEAL Series at Humboldt Golf Club are detailed below.

Humboldt local, Tryce Wallin, emerged victorious in the MJT Junior Boys division after a thrilling one-hole playoff. The 17-year-old matched Lincoln Rogers of Prince Albert with a score of 151 through 36 holes before securing the title on the first extra hole. Wallin recorded eight birdies over the two rounds and credited his family for their support, saying, “My whole family are great supporters and very encouraging, it was nice that they could watch me.” He also praised the event, noting, ‘It was a great event, staff are very friendly and everything ran smoothly.’

Saskatoon's Arwen Mosher won the MJT Girls 15-19 title with rounds of 83 and 85 for a 168 total. The 16-year-old credited recent swing improvements to the guidance of Geordie Miller, explaining, “Geordie Miller helped me improve my swing this past month, and I kept hearing him in my head saying, 'twist your hips'. My mom also helped me.” Faced with a demanding closing stretch, Mosher relied on patience and course management, saying, “It was pretty narrow on the back 9, so I tried to lay up lots and hope for up and down.”

Playing on home turf, 14-year-old Jace Olson carded rounds of 76 and 75 to capture the Juvenile Boys title by two strokes. Olson credited his support team for helping him reach the winner's circle, specifically: “My parents and my golf coach, Kyle.” His approach throughout the weekend was straightforward: ‘Play smart and execute good shots.’

Alyxa Melsted of Wynyard continued her impressive season by earning her third consecutive MJT victory. The 13-year-old followed an opening-round 87 with a tournament-best 78 on day two to finish at 165 and secure the MJT Girls U15 title. Melsted thanked ‘my parents and my coach’ for their support and kept her game plan simple throughout the tournament: ‘My strategy was to eat, drink, and play safe.’

Cooper Roberge of Lloydminster, AB, rallied from an opening-round 79 with a stellar 71 on day two to win the MJT Bantam Boys division at 150. The 14-year-old made eight birdies over the 36-hole event and credited his father for helping him rebound after the first round, saying, “My dad kept me going after day 1.” Asked about his experience competing on the MJT, Roberge's review was glowing: ‘10/10, MJT is by far the best tournament I've played.’

Regina's Hudson Deibert extended his winning streak with a third consecutive MJT victory, posting rounds of 77 and 75 for a 152 total. The 11-year-old credited ‘my mom and dad and my coach, Jeff Chambers’ for helping him achieve the result. As he approached the closing holes, his focus was clear: ‘Just make a couple birdies coming down the stretch.’
