Oh wins playoff in MJT Mini Tour’s Ontario finale at Merry-Hill
Canada’s number one-played junior tour, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), wrapped up its Ontario Mini Tour season for 12U players at Merry-Hill Golf Club in Breslau on August 30. A talented field descended on the scenic par-62 layout, known for its rolling terrain, tree-lined fairways, and fun, challenging design, to compete over 18 holes. With six division titles on the line, athletes battled for the final podium finishes of the 2025 MJT Mini Tour regular season.
One of the many highlights of the day came in the MJT Girls 9-10 division, where Toronto’s nine-year-old Islay Oh outlasted Barrie’s Sophie Wang in a thrilling playoff. After both players carded matching rounds of 75 to tie for the lead, Oh sealed the victory on the very first extra hole to claim the title. Alongside this exciting finish, the following young golfers also put together great scores to win their respective division titles: Bowen Li, 11, of Toronto, ON, in MJT Boys 11-12 (73), Fiona Lin, 10, of Markham, ON, in MJT Girls 11-12 (71), James Plunkett, 9, from Guelph, ON, in MJT Boys 9-10 (78), Lucas Lu, 7, from Toronto, ON, in MJT Boys 8U (78), and Hannah Shao, 8, from Komoka, ON, in MJT Girls 8U (94).
