Rising stars beat the heat in MJT Mini Tour at Victoria Park

A talented field of 42 young golfers aged 12 and under battled scorching heat and fierce competition at the MJT Mini Tour stop hosted at Victoria Park Valley Golf Club in Puslinch, ON, on July 28. Under the auspices of Canada’s most competitive circuit for junior golfers, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), this event saw athletes compete in five divisions for gold medals, fantastic prizes, and a chance to qualify for next month’s MJT Mini Tour National Championship at Tsawwassen Springs Golf Club in British Columbia.

Despite the intense heat and humidity, impressive scoring led to division titles being awarded to Niklas Zierik, 12, of Collingwood, ON, in MJT Boys 11-12 (67), Jingyan Meng, 11, of Markham, ON, in MJT Girls 11-12 (76), Atlas Chou, 10, of North York, ON, in MJT Boys 9-10 (70), Islay Oh, 9, from Toronto, ON, in MT Girls 9-10 (71), and Terence Wu, 8, from Markham, ON, in MJT Boys 8U (71).

Quotes from the division winners, top finisher scores and the list of qualified players are detailed below. Full results, as well as winners of the Closest-to-the-Pin competition are posted on the MJT website here.
