Keating’s 63 leads way in record-size field for MJT Mini Tour at Merry-Hill

The 2025 MJT Mini Tour officially got underway in Breslau on May 3 with a record-size field of talented 12U players for the Ontario’s circuit on Canada’s number one-played junior golf tour, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT). Under grey skies and cool spring temperatures, players teed it up in the MJT Mini Tour Junior Worlds Qualifier, launching another exciting year of grassroots competition on the scenic executive-style layout of Merry-Hill Golf Club.

This opening event marked the first stop of seven in Ontario, and young golfers were competing for division titles along with coveted invitations to international events and a place in the season-ending MJT Mini Tour National Championship in British Columbia. Winners of Boys and Girls 8U and 9–10  divisions earned direct exemptions into the 2025 FCG Callaway World Championship in Rancho Mirage, California, while top performers ages 10 and under were also shortlisted for the Uswing Mojing Academy Junior World Championship.

Twelve-year-old Braden Keating of Stratford, ON, torched the course with a stellar 9-under-par 63 in the MJT Boys 11–12 division, racking up five birdies and two eagles over the round. Other outstanding division wins were recorded by Fiona Lin, 10, of Markham, ON, in MJT Girls 11-12 (71), Rylan Chan, 9, of Markham, ON, in MJT Boys 9-10 (75), Lanai Park, 9, of Oakville, ON, in MJT Girls 9-10 (80), Logan Metzen, 8, of Etobicoke, ON, in MJT Boys 8U (75), and Olivia Tu, 8, of Markham, ON, in MJT Girls 8U (88).
