Top juniors tie for Low Overall Honours in MJT Spring Invitational at Galt

Canada’s leading junior golf tour for over 25 years, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), launched the Ontario swing of its 2025 national schedule of over 100 tournaments with the special MJT Spring Invitational at the private Galt Country Club in Cambridge, ON, on April 26-27.
Handpicked from the 2024 MJT Ontario Order of Merit, the qualified, limited-size field had to endure howling winds and wet spring conditions in round one, before stepping up under clear skies on day two.

With talent stacked across five invited divisions, players battled for early season bragging rights and set the tone for an exciting season on Canada’s number one-played junior golf tour, evidenced by the recording of ties for the Low Overall Score in both the Boys and Girls divisions. Champions Jaiden Brown, 18, of Newcastle, ON, in MJT Junior Boys and Justin Chu, 15, of North York, ON, in MJT Juvenile Boys, both tied for Boys Low Overall Honours with a total score of 145. Similarly in the Girls divisions, champions Sierra Kowalyshyn, 16, of Stoney Creek, ON, in MJT Girls 15-19, and Alexis Card, 14, of Cambridge, ON, in MJT Girls U15, both tied for Girls Low Overall Honours with a total score of 153. In the remaining division at the Invitational, the champion was Grady Gouett, 14, of Meaford, ON, with a total score of 157 in MJT Bantam Boys.

Players also had the opportunity to qualify for other major events, including the MJT East Coast Junior Championship, MJT National Tour Challenge, and Golf Canada’s NextGen Ontario event. The list of qualified players is below, along with top finisher scores and quotes from each division winner.

Results from the Bomber Long Drive, PLYR Closest to the Pin, Booster Juice BounceBack Awards and Academy Points can be found here.

Next up in Ontario is the wait-listed MJT Miller Golf Classic, taking place May 10-11 at Flamborough Hills Golf Club in Copetown. For more information on the MJT and upcoming events, visit www.maplejt.com.
