Selkirk sets stage for superstar-sized PLYR Series field in MJT’s record Manitoba stop

In a record field size in Manitoba for Canada’s leading competitive junior golf circuit, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), 83 athletes came out to compete in the highly anticipated MJT PLYR Series at Selkirk Golf and Country Club in Selkirk, July 21–22. Proudly supported by long-time MJT partner PLYR Golf, with PLYR tee gifting and prizing generously on hand, the event marked the largest-ever MJT stop in the province. The future of golf looks bright in Manitoba with the number of players and depth of talent displayed in Selkirk.

A classic, tree-lined layout with tight fairways and well-guarded greens, Selkirk Golf Course tested every part of the players’ games. With high stakes in play, athletes had their sights set not only on division titles but also on direct and shortlisted spots in the 2025 MJT National Tour Challenge in Ontario and the prestigious Sergio Garcia Junior Championship in Spain, adding extra intensity to an already electric two days of competition.

The MJT Girls U15 division delivered one of the most dramatic finishes of the weekend, as two Winnipeg golfers, 13-year-old Angelina Sitarz and 12-year-old Sadie Blazeiko, battled it out over 36 holes to finish tied at 175. With a playoff needed to crown a champion, the duel extended to three extra holes before Sitarz emerged victorious, capping off a thrilling showdown.

The other divisions were equally competitive, with the following players emerging victorious, Brayden Boge, 17, of Winnipeg, MB, in MJT Junior Boys (146), Brooke Henderson, 17, of Portage La Prairie, MB, in MJT Girls 15-19 (179), Ty Brewster, 16, from Steinbach, MB, in MJT Juvenile Boys (148), Ryder St. Laurent, 14, from Île Des Chênes, MB, in MJT Bantam Boys (148), and Ty Montour, 12, from Oakville, MB, in MJT Peewee Boys (162).
