Talented juniors tackle top-tier Mickelson National in MJT Edge School Summer Classic

Nearly 100 of Canada’s top junior golfers descended on the pristine fairways and championship layout of Mickelson National Golf Club for the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s (MJT) Edge School Summer Classic, held August 11–12. This marked MJT’s second-ever visit to the acclaimed course, adding an extra layer of excitement to an already competitive atmosphere.

Athletes battled across six divisions for titles, premium Titleist golf bags, and valuable Order of Merit points towards qualifying for the 27th annual MJT National Championship presented by adidas Golf at Orange Lake Resort in Florida this November. This event was the second stop in the 2025 MJT Edge School Series, a long-standing partnership that continues to champion excellence in junior athletics across Canada.

Low Overall honours for boys and girls respectively went to Jackson Gourlie, 15, of Foothills, AB, in MJT Juvenile Boys, after he fired two even-par rounds (72-72=144) and Elle Banister, 14, of Calgary, AB, in MJT Girls U15, who shot rock-solid scores of 77-78 (155). More fine performances led to division wins for Cashe McNabb, 18, from Calgary, AB, in MJT Junior Boys (75-73=148), Shylee Kostiuk, 15, from Spruce Grove, AB, in MJT Girls 15-19 (75-84=159), Liam Carson, 14, from Calgary, AB, in MJT Bantam Boys (79-81=160), and Oscar Gosgnach, 12, from Edmonton, AB, in MJT Peewee Boys (72-75=147).
