Mountain weather and major qualifiers mark MJT adidas Series at iconic Banff Springs
A heavily waitlisted field of nearly 120 elite junior golfers from three provinces teed it up on the stunning Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course in Banff over the May long weekend, competing in the MJT adidas Golf Series on May 18–19, one of six adidas-sponsored stops on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) in 2025. Players were bestowed with great adidas Golf tee gifting and the awards table laden with fabulous adidas Golf prizing.
It was a battle due to rain-soaking conditions and brisk mountain air during round one, but this was followed by slightly improved weather in round two for the juniors, as they competed in six divisions for MJT Order of Merit points, qualifying spots into four major events - the East Coast Junior Championship, Junior America’s Cup Team Alberta, MJT Alberta Invitational at Stewart Creek, and the MJT National Tour Challenge.
Low Overall Honours for boys and girls respectively were won by Brae Rogalczyk, 17, of Innisfail, AB, in MJT Junior Boys (68-71=139) and Olivia Johnson, 16, of Calgary, AB, in MJT Girls 15-19 (76-70=146). Other strong performances across the field resulted in division titles for Solomon Tong, 15, from Heritage Pointe, AB, in MJT Juvenile Boys (74-70=144), Danika Horcica, 13, from Edmonton, AB, in MJT Girls U15 (80-77=157), Sebastian Rothzén, 13, of Calgary, AB, in MJT Bantam Boys (72-78=150), and Niko Tran, 12, from Calgary, AB, in MJT Peewee Boys (87-79=166).
