Six crowned MJT National Champions in marquee finale presented by adidas Golf in Florida; Krahn dazzles with showstopping 14-under-par

112 of Canada’s top young golfers qualified to compete in Florida in the 2025 Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) National Championship presented by adidas Golf, which successfully concluded on November 9 on the Legends Course at Orange Lake Golf Resort. The elite 54-hole WAGR-ranked event, which ran November 7-9, marked a spectacular finale to another record-breaking season on Canada’s number-one-played junior golf tour.

This 27th annual Championship also featured an incredible total value distributed to players in the form of financial assistance, tee gifting, prizing, on-course competitions and refreshments. Off the course, competitors were inspired by presentations from Next Level U Sports and Henry Brunton Golf Academy, as well as a Q&A with College Coaches.

The weather set the stage for a dramatic three-day finish, with two perfectly sunny opening rounds followed by some rain and the risk of thunderstorms in round three. Through it all, athletes demonstrated skill and sportsmanship worthy of a national championship.

Impressive scores were recorded among the talented pool of players and after 54 holes of world-class competition, six National Champions were crowned.

A marquee performance by Austin Krahn, 18, of Christina Lake, BC, led to him being crowned MJT Junior Boys National Champion. Krahn fired up the par-72 Legends Course with outstanding scores of 64, 68, 70 (202), piling up 13 birdies and two eagles. “It feels great after finishing second last year, it feels good to come out on top,” he said. “I put a lot of work into my game, so it’s amazing for it to pay off.” On the key to his victory, he added: “I didn’t lose a ball all week, which is always important, and I had a lot of quality shots that slowly wore down the golf course.”

The MJT Girls 15–19 National Champion’s title was won by 16-year-old Olivia Johnson of Calgary, AB, who shot excellent rounds of 72, 74, 72 (218) including eight birdies. “I think just taking it one shot at a time and staying calm,” she said, of the key to her victory.

The MJT Juvenile Boys National Championship was decided in a tight race, won by 15-year-old Jayden Arnold of Calgary, AB, who opened with a blistering 64, then posted 73 and 74 for a total of 211, tallying 15 birdies overall. “It feels amazing, after a long year full of struggles, it feels unbelievable to end the season with a National title,” he said. Reflecting on his favourite moment, he added, “The entire first round is an amazing memory, finishing with three birdies to shoot a PB (personal best) is really cool.”

At just 11-years-old, Tiffany Rao of Vancouver, BC, won the MJT Girls U15 National Champion’s title after she climbed the leaderboard each day, shooting 81, 76, 72 (229), carding 10 birdies in total and sealing the win in round three. “It feels very good because I have been practicing hard,” she said. “I rate this event full stars because this is a wonderful event and I hope to come back.”

MJT Bantam Boys National Champion, 14-year-old Austin Nesbitt of Pilot Butte, SK, posted fantastic scores of 71, 70, 74 (215) including six birdies, making this fourth appearance the sweetest yet. “Having played this tournament four times already and not having my best play in the past made this feel even better.” His most memorable moment: “Having my first bogey-free round ever.” He summed up the week: “10/10, great the whole time. All tournaments are run great by MJT.”

And last, but certainly not least, the sixth National title, this one for MJT Peewee Boys, was won by 12-year-old Oscar Gosgnach of Edmonton, AB, who set the tone to win with an opening 66, followed by 74, 72 (212). “It feels really good, I feel this event really capped off a good season. All the work I put in is paying off,” he said. “The first-round 66 really set me up for the next two days, I didn’t have to do anything special the next two days.”

Each champion was celebrated with a custom crystal trophy, exclusive adidas Golf and Titleist prizes, and MJT funding toward future competition. Additional prize-winners for the Bomber Long Drive, PLYR Closest-to-the-Pin, and Booster Juice Bounceback awards are posted on the MJT website.

“This Championship captures everything the MJT stands for: excellence, resilience, and the joy of competition,” said Trent Matson, MJT National Operations Director. “To see Canada’s best juniors conduct themselves with such decorum here in Florida was amazing, and the incredible scores show just how strong this generation is.”

The 2025 MJT National Championship presented by adidas Golf capped a banner season for the Tour, which hosted over 100 events across Canada and had record membership and tournament regsitrations.

A 2026 MJT Early Bird Membership Offer, and tentative national schedule, will be announced in December. For full results, photos, and more, visit www.maplejt.com.
