102-year-old KenWo Golf Club hosts MJT Mini Tour opener in Nova Scotia, helping grow the game

A record start to the non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s 25th anniversary season took place this past weekend at the historic KenWo Golf Club in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, where 77 young players came out to compete in either the Junior (U19) or Mini Tour (12U) event being conducted. Canada’s number one-played Junior Tour only recently expanded the successful Mini Tour for 12U players to the Atlantic Canada region, adding stops in 2023, to offer more opportunities for participation and game development in the region. Results of the Mini Tour event on May 13, where two major 12U qualifiers were up for grabs, are highlighted below,

Conditions were tough on the 102-year-old track, with light rain to start and swirling winds throughout the day.  Ten-year-old Borden Nicholson of Pictou, NS, managed the elements and won the MJT Low Overall and Boys 9-10 titles. Winners of the MJT Boys and Girls 9-10 and 8U divisions, subject to FCG scoring criteria, earned direct exemptions into the FCG Callaway World Championship in Rancho Mirage, California, this July, and each division winner qualified for the season-ending MJT Mini Tour National Championship in Tsawwassen, BC, this August.
