MJT newcomers win low overall in Mini Tour Summer Series at Beaverdale

The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, Canada’s number-one played junior tour, made a stop at the Beaverdale Golf Club in Cambridge, ON, on August 14, to hold a one-day Mini Tour event for boys and girls ages 12 and under.  The young golfers came out to compete for titles in four divisions with each division winner receiving an invitation to the season-ending MJT Mini Tour National Championship in British Columbia later this month.

Beaverdale Golf Club was in immaculate shape and scoring conditions were perfect for the Ontario 12U circuit. Newcomers to the MJT Mini Tour circuit, Tianyi Sun, 10, of Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON, and Niklas Zierik, 10, of Collingwood, ON, both posted the low rounds of the day to earn Low Overall honours for Girls and Boys respectively, along with their division titles in Girls 9-10 and Boys 9-10.  Other highlights included Abigail Stienmetz, 8, of Waterloo, ON, winning the MJT Girls 8U Division and Ethan Tan, 12, of Oakville, ON, taking the MJT Boys 11-12 Division title. Top finisher results and quotes from the division winners are noted below; closest to the pin and tournament highlights can be seen on the MJT website here.

The next stop in the province is the MJT Mini Tour at Whispering Ridge Golf Club in Brooklin on August 26 – players can register here.  For more information on Canada’s number one-played Junior Golf Tour, including details of the entire 2023 MJT Mini Tour schedule, please visit the website.
