Storms threaten MJT Saskatchewan season finale; stacked Mini Tour dodges the weather to finish

Tournament Highlights:
- Canada’s leading Junior Golf Tour was at The Legends Golf Club in Warman, SK, this past weekend, where close to 150 young athletes took part, either in the two-day 19U MJT-Golf Saskatchewan Order of Merit (OOM) Championship, August 27-28, or the one-day 12U MJT Mini Tour, August 27. Results of the one-day 12U event are highlighted below.
- Despite storms threatening completion of the event, the 12U golfers finished 18 holes in the last stop on the Saskatchewan circuit for the 2022 MJT season.
- In a stacked MJT Boys 11-12 division, Hayden Solomko, 11, of Battleford, SK, chased down the title after firing a fine score of 76 for a single stroke winning margin.
- Miranda Merriman, 12, of La Ronge, SK, came out to close her season with a round of 105 in the MJT Girls 11-12 division, while Alyxa Melsted, 9, of Wynyard, SK, topped the MJT Girls 9-10 podium for the second tournament in a row after carding a score of 102.
- Jun Lee, 10, of Regina, SK, shot a scorching hot score of 68 (-4) in the MJT Boys 9-10 division to win by two strokes.
- Hudson Deibert, 7, of Regina, SK, finished his dominant performance in the MJT Boys 8U division this season by breaking into the 70’s with a score of 79 for fourth MJT title.
- In the MJT Girls 8U division, Kensi Bourassa, 8, of Saskatoon, SK, bested her nearest competitor by two strokes for the division title.
- The Legends Golf Club event signalled the end of the very successful 2022 Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour Mini Tour season in Saskatchewan; a 2023 Early Bird Membership Offer will be available in December.

About the MJT: The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is Canada’s number one-played Junior Golf Tour as well as the only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the ‘Road to College Golf’ in Canada.
