Over 100 participate in MJT Ontario’s weekend events; Park sisters dominate Humber College PGM Series at Lakeridge Links

Tournament Highlights:
- Canada’s leading Junior Golf Tour visited the Whispering Ridge-Lakeridge Links courses in Whitby, ON, this past weekend, where over 100 young athletes competed, either in the two-day 19U MJT Humber College PGM Classic at Lakeridge Links Golf Club, August 27-28, or the one-day 12U MJT Mini Tour at Whispering Ridge, August 27. Results of the two-day U19 event are highlighted below.
- The elite Junior Tour golfers were competing for division titles and Order of Merit points in the Humber College PGM event; their last chance to qualify for the MJT National Championship in Orlando this November.
- Twin sisters Kaprice and Nobelle Park, 12, of Oakville, ON, continued their outstanding seasons so far on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour and won both Girls division titles – Kaprice in MJT Girls U15 and Nobelle in MJT Girls 15-19, where she plays up a division.
- Kaprice closed with a brilliant score of 69 (72-69= 141 (-3) for the Low Overall girls score and MJT Girls U15 champion title.
- Nobelle won the MJT Girls 15-19 division title with a low round of 71 and second round of 76 for a total score of 147 (+3). This marked the seventh win of the season for Nobelle, who has taken home every division title in all MJT Tournaments participated in.
- Playing up two divisions was Lucas Chi, 14, who showed his talent by winning the MJT Junior Boys 17-19 title and tying for the Low Overall boys score with excellent rounds of 74,73 = 147 (+3).
- The MJT Juvenile Boys top spot was also a tie for Low Overall boys score, won by Jaiden Brown, 15, of Newcastle, ON, (73-74=147). Brown secured a fine win with a birdie on the last hole after a down-to-the-wire competition with Ben De Castro.
- A fantastic final round of 67 awarded the MJT Bantam Boys trophy to Bode Stephen, 13, of Kingston, ON, who carded great scores of 74-67= 141 (-3).
- Liam Ampil, 11, of Brampton, ON, carded 80-83=163 for a 11-stroke victory in the MJT Peewee Boys division.
- Winners of the Long Drive, Booster Juice BounceBack and Closest to the Pin awards are posted on the website.
- The weekend’s events signalled the end of the successful regular season on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour in Ontario; the next event is an Invitational - the MJT National Team Challenge presented by Freedom 55 Financial in Niagara this September. A 2023 Early Bird Membership Offer will be available in December.
