Great scoring despite wild weather in Warman; MJT Saskatchewan Season Finale sees 147 compete
Venue and location: The Legends GC, Warman, SK
Tournament Date: August 27-28, 2022
Tournament Highlights:
- Canada’s leading Junior Golf Tour was at The Legends Golf Club in Warman, SK, this past weekend, where close to 150 young athletes took part, either in the two-day 19U MJT-Golf Saskatchewan Order of Merit (OOM) Championship, August 27-28, or the one-day 12U MJT Mini Tour, August 27. Results of the two-day U19 event are highlighted below.
- The events were plagued by wild weather throughout the weekend and round one was shortened for most players as a result. Storms on the radar kept all on their toes for potential cancellations of the second round; although it was windy, this was completed in full. This was the final opportunity in Saskatchewan to earn Order of Merit (OOM) points towards qualifying for the MJT National Championship in Orlando, FL, this November.
- Jackson Wingert, 18, of Saskatoon, SK, finished two complete rounds in the MJT Junior Boys division, carding rock-solid rounds of 70,75 = 145 in tough weather conditions to secure the win by three strokes.
- Finishing nine holes on round one and a full 18 on day two in the MJT Juvenile Boys division, Max Regier, 16, of Saskatoon, SK, made it to the top of the podium through an unpredictable weekend, finishing one stroke ahead of a two-way-tie for second place.
- The MJT Bantam Boys division, which also completed 27 holes, saw Jack Maharaj, 14, of Saskatoon, SK, win the title with scores of 31,80 = 111, ahead of a two-way tie for second place close behind.
- In the MJT Girls 15-19 division, Hallie Crozier, 17, of Regina, SK, carded two complete rounds with great scores of 76,84=160.
- Tayla Perry, 13, of Regina, SK, earned a four-stroke victory in the MJT U15 Girls division, winning her first title of 2022 with consistent scores of 84,83=167.
- Lucas Sturgeon, 12, of Saskatoon, SK, claimed victory by four strokes in the MJT Peewee Boys division with a 27 hole score of 35, 71=106.
- MJT Long Drive, Closest to the Pin and Booster Juice BounceBack award winners are posted on the website.
