Great scores posted from MJT Ford Series at RedTail Landing; Collins fires four-under to end regular season with low overall title

Tournament Highlights:
- The regular season on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour in Alberta ended with two full days of Ford-sponsored events took place at RedTail Landing Golf Course in Nisku from September 10-11, with 115 youth overall taking part in either the MJT Ford Series at RedTail Landing Golf Club or in the free Nisku Ford Go Golf! Junior Golf Clinic. The clinic, which was put on to introduce kids in the community to the game for free, was followed by the two-day competitive tournament for elite junior golfers; results of the latter are highlighted below.
- Graysen Collins, 17, of Calgary, AB, secured a strong lead with an outstanding first round score of 67 (-5) in the MJT Junior Boys division, enabling him to hold onto first place after closing with a 73 (67-73=140) in the face of a charge by Wyatt Bishop,17, of Dunmore, AB, who also fired a 67 to finish just one stroke back (74-67=141). Collins takes the Low Overall Boys title with his performance.
- Another outstanding score of 68 (-4) was fired by Rosie Bee Kim, 15, of Edmonton, AB, who won the MJT Girls 15-19 division and Low Overall Girls title in style (75,68=143).
- Parker Riou, 15, of Strathmore, AB, was the MJT Juvenile Boys division winner after scoring great rounds of 75,72=147 (+3) to edge out a one stroke victory.
- Also claiming the win by one stroke was Aliyah Hull, 13, of Chestermere, AB, who carded 77,83 (160) for the MJT Girls U15 division title.
- More fine scoring came in the MJT Bantam Boys division where Chase Lassman, 14, of Parkland County, AB, was on fire to close with a brilliant round of 68 for a dominant victory (74,68=142).
- Back on top of the podium for one last time in the regular season was veteran champion, Jayden Arnold, 12, of Calgary, AB, who secured his eighth win of the year in the MJT Peewee Boys division with rounds of 70,74=144 and a final even par scorecard.
- Winners of the Eco Mechanical Long Drive and Closest to the Pin competitions, as well as the Booster Juice BounceBack award winners, are posted on the website.
- This was the final regular tour stop in the province for the program. The invitation-only MJT National Championship presented by TaylorMade and adidas Golf runs in Orlando, FLA, this November. An Early Bird Membership for 2023 will be available in December.

My putting was way better this tournament because of lots of hard practice on the greens. I hit the greens on hole 17 and 18, and then every fairway otherwise. A big highlight was a 30 foot putt left to right slider on hole 18 for a birdie. My favourite part of the whole MJT season was my consistency in solid finishes week in and week out, and the fun in competing with the top juniors in Alberta.”

Kenny made it very difficult and even though I won this time, it’s always a pleasure to play with Kenny Taylor. Major highlights were hole two on the second round, I put a 4 wood to about seven feet, from 235 yards out. I made a clutch putt on hole 17 from five feet to tie going into the last hole. And then winning my third MJT title was another happy highlight this tournament. My favourite part of the season was just being able to get out and play incredible courses and represent the MJT.”

The MJT Ford Series tournament at RedTail Landing signalled the end of a very successful 2022 MJT Alberta regular season; a 2023 Early Bird Membership Offer will be available in December.
