Gilbart goes low at Whispering Ridge, the final 2021 MJT Ontario Mini Tour stop

 

Brooklin, ON – (August 30, 2021) – The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s 2021 Ontario schedule for golfers 12 and under successfully concluded with the MJT Mini Tour at Whispering Ridge Golf Club, in Brooklin, on August 28, where young players competed for titles in six divisions.

Low overall score came from 12-year-old Lucas Gilbart, of Toronto, ON, in the MJT Boys 11-12 Division. Gilbart fired a 69, securing a dominating victory for his second MJT Mini Tour title of the season. “Getting the win makes me more motivated to win the next tournament,” he said. “My putting was definitely the strongest part of my game.” Runner-up was Aurora, ON, golfer Rainer Bulau, 12, who recorded a score of 86.

Ten-year-old Bryce Burridge, of London, ON, continues to shine on the MJT Ontario Mini Tour, recording a score of 70 to win the MJT Boys 9-10 title by a five-shot margin. “I felt very prepared for the tournament, so it feels great to get the win,” commented Burridge. “I hit some good tee shots and my putting was good.” Ten-year-old James Krula, of Mississauga, ON, carded 75 to finish in the runner-up position.

Eight-year-old Weijian Lu, of Markham, ON, shot 76 to earn the victory in the MJT Boys 8U Division. Lu’s performance at Whispering Ridge Golf Club marked his third win in three starts this year on the MJT Ontario Mini Tour. Noah Oliver, 8, of Brights Grove, ON, came second with a score of 85.

Nobelle Park and Kaprice Park continue to impress on the MJT Mini Tour in the Girls 11-12 Division. The 11-year-old Oakville, ON, twins took home first and second place, this time it was Nobelle with the winner’s title with a score of 74 while Kaprice shot 79 to finish second. Nobelle’s performance at Whispering Ridge marked a year in which she has not finished outside the top three in any MJT event both on the Mini Tour and Junior Tour.

In the MJT Girls 9-10 Division, nine-year-old Riviera Lindholm, of Toronto, ON, fired a round of 78 to win by six shots. “I felt excited going into the tournament and really happy after winning,” commented Lindholm, who made the most of her experience on the MJT Mini Tour. “My chipping was the best part of my game.” Ten-year-old Ava Gilbart, of Toronto, ON, shot 84 to finish in second place.
