Burridge and Park add to victories at MJT Mini Tour’s Turnberry series

 

Brampton, ON – (August 11, 2021) – The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour held the MJT Mini Tour at Turnberry Golf Club in Brampton, ON, on August 10, marking the fourth stop for young golfers aged 12 and under at this facility this season and the last opportunity to earn spots into the MJT Mini Tour National Championship in British Columbia on August 19 and 20.  

Noting the top finishers in each of the six age divisions, Markham, ON, golfer Edward Li, 12, recorded a score of 67 to win the MJT Boys 11-12 title by two shots. “I was a little bit nervous at the start, but I felt very proud after winning,” commented Li. “My putting was very solid and what got me the win.” Etobicoke, ON, golfer Hudson Kelahear, 12, recorded a score of 69 to finish in the runner-up position.

London, ON, golfer Bryce Burridge continues to shine this year on the MJT Mini Tour as he picked up his fourth consecutive win in the MJT Boys 9-10 Division. The 10-year-old golfer recorded a score of 57 at Turnberry Golf Club to win by five shots. “I felt prepared coming into this tournament,” commented Burridge. “My putting was responsible for the win and I played some of my best golf.” Nine-year-old Eli Perng, of St Davids, ON, recorded a score of 62 to finish in the runner-up position.

The twin 11-year-old players from Oakville, ON, continue to dominate the top of the leaderboard in the MJT Girls 11-12 Division. This time around, it was Nobelle Park who won the title by six shots with a score of 60. “I felt excited going into the tournament and it feels great to get the win again,” commented Park. Sister Kaprice Park fired a round of 66 to finish the division in second place.

In the MJT Girls 9-10 Division, eight-year-old Riviera Lindholm, of Toronto, ON, shot 64 to beat
Lillianne Failing, 10, of Orangeville, ON, for the title. This was Lindholm’s first MJT Mini Tour tournament of the season; she has picked up at least one win on the MJT Mini Tour in the last three years of playing and currently holds a 2020 MJT Mini Tour National Champion title from her win in British Columbia last August. Soleil Lindholm, 7, of Toronto, ON, came out to shoot a score of 84 on the MJT Girls 8U Division.

Eight-year-old Weijan Lu, of Markham, ON, shot a score of 70 to win by two shots in the MJT Boys 8U Division. Kingston MacPherson, 7, of Aurora, ON, finished the division in second place with a score of 72.
