Six MJT Atlantic Canada Tour Champions Crowned at Royal Oaks

Moncton, NB – August 22, 2016 – Sunday saw the successful conclusion to the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s circuit in the region this season, which ended with the two-day MJT Atlantic Canada Tour Championship / Golf NB Player of the Year Series at Royal Oaks Golf Club in Moncton, NB, August 20 and 21. Junior golfers were vying for six division titles as well as bonus MJT order of merit points and direct exemptions into the MJT Boston Pizza National Championship at The Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix, AZ, this November.

A career round of 69 vaulted Meghan McLean, 17, of Port Williams, NS, into the lead, and a closing round of 73 cemented it, securing her a second MJT 15-19 Girls Division win this season.  “MJT is the best!” she said afterwards. “I’m super happy with myself as I have never shot in the 60’s before and to be able to do it in a big tournament was a great feeling.”  Laura Wesselius, 17, of Intervale, NB, shot 72, 78 (150) which gave her the runner-up position, and Laura Jones, 17, of Berry Mills, NB, shot 82, 78 (160) placing her third.
