Ancaster, ON – (September 12, 2016) -  Dylan Henderson, 15, of Waterloo, ON, shot the low overall score this past weekend in the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s Ontario Series at Mystic Golf Club in Ancaster, winning his second MJT Juvenile Boys title and setting himself up well for his appearances in the upcoming International Team Challenge (ITC) in Ontario, Srixon International Junior Classic in Australia, and MJT National Championship in Phoenix, USA.

The tournament in Ancaster concludes the regular competitive season in the province for Canada’s number one-played junior golf tour however the invitation-only International Team Challenge presented by Freedom 55 Financial at Hunters Pointe Golf Club in Welland runs September 23 to 25, where 96 pre-qualified players from across Canada and the USA are competing in teams of six.  The MJT is then sending a team of five, including Dylan Henderson, to represent Canada in the Srixon International Junior Classic in Australia next month. Following that is the invitation-only MJT Boston Pizza National Championship presented by TaylorMade-adidas at the Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix, November 11 to 13 - the season finale.

Henderson, who fired rounds of 75, 74 (149) and attributed his win to his ball striking and putt-making, said, “I feel pretty good considering it is the last MJT of the year, and also I’m going into some tournaments in the fall and throughout the winter that I want to do well in.” Runner-up in his division was Patrick Maloney, 16, of Oakville, ON (72, 78=150), while there was a tie for third at 156 total score between Luca Carestia, 15, of Ancaster, (81, 75) and Ranen Oomen-Danckert, 15, of Mono, ON (80, 76).

Davey Morton, 17, of Woodstock, ON, won his first MJT Junior Boys title after he shot 78, 75 (153) to beat Carson DeThomasis, 17, of London, ON (75-80), by two strokes. “I feel good since this was my first tournament win,” Morton said, adding, “My driving was really good and I kept the ball in the fairway, eliminating big numbers.” Third place went to Michael Dubois, 17, of Brantford, ON, who shot 79, 77 (156).

The MJT Bantam Boys title was won by Nolan Piazza, 13, of Niagara Falls, ON, who shot 88, 76 (164) to defeat Ben Bauer, 14, of Hawkesville, ON (82-88), by six strokes, and the MJT Peewee Boys division went to Elian Infante, 12, of Mississauga, ON, after he carded rounds of 80, 98 (178) to hold off Ethan Raulino, 11, of Burlington, ON (88, 92=180).

Tatiana Tait, 17, of Waterloo, ON, edged Jordan Jarrett, 17, of St Marys, ON, to claim the MJT Girls U19 top spot once again with scores of 92, 86 (178). “It was a difficult course that was in okay condition – it provided me with a great challenge,” Tait said. “I had few three putts – it feels great to win my division title especially because it’s my second consecutive MJT win.” Third place was claimed by Alyssa Burgess, 17, of London, who scored 94, 89 (183).

The younger MJT Girls U15 division title went to 14-year-old JiaYin Joy Liu of Waterloo, who improved dramatically on day two with a closing round of 79 for an easy victory (96, 79=175). “I tried really hard and I kept focus,” she said afterwards. “It was fun and a great experience!” Second place went to Vanessa Lin, 14, of Ancaster, (103, 97) and third place to Mandy Zeng, 14, of Oakville, ON (109, 94).
