MJT Mini Tour at Lakewood Golf Resort a hit

Sylvan Lake, AB – (July 22, 2011) – The second stop on the Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT Mini Tour in Alberta was in Sylvan Lake on Thursday July 21, where young golfers were treated to great weather, a fantastic venue and outstanding reception by Lakewood Golf Resort. Head Professional Scott Bergdahl treated the juniors like Mini Tour Players, having the range set up, the golf course in impeccable condition and a feeling of pride as he supported the event not only by hosting, but by getting a number of his junior members involved.

Overall low finisher and Ages 12-13 Division Winner was Parker Saunders, 13, of Fernie, BC, who carded a fantastic 37 on the shortened Lakewood course. Saunders and his friend, Shayne Prince, drove seven hours to make the event, one that he hand-picked off the MJT 2011 schedule. In the Ages 10-11 Division, local Korbin Allen, 11, of Bentley, Alberta, fired a 39 on his home golf course. In the Ages 7-9 Division, Marko Banic, 8, of DeWinton, Alberta, was low with 43 en route to his first MJT win. And finally, in the Girls Division, Darlene Rantung, 12, of Calgary was low with 58.

The MJT Mini Tour at Lakewood Golf Resort is the final stop on the Alberta Schedule but look for more stops in 2012. A very successful final stop with 25 kids, parents and players were very excited to play and had a great time in the beautiful Sylvan Lake area.
