Vancouver, BC – The second of the three fall tournaments in the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s Canaccord Capital City Series in Vancouver was held at McCleery Golf Course on October 7th, where a full field of junior golfers participated in the 18-hole event.
Richmond’s Dong Su, one of the top 16-year-old golfers in Canada, who is coached by one of this country’s top playing professionals, Philip Jonas, cashed in with a two-under-par 69 to win the Boys 14-16 division as well as the overall low score among the boys. Second spot in this division went to Keun Kim, 16, of Port Coquitlam, who shot 71, while Maple Ridge’s Sean Craigon, 16, took third place with a 73.
Sue Kim, 15, of Langley and The Redwoods Golf Course, blazed the trail amongst the girls with a three-under-par 68, beating runner-up Anica Yoo, 12, of Port Coquitlam, by seven strokes. 11-year-old Jisoo Keel, of Coquitlam, placed third after posting a score of 80.
The Boys 17 and up division title went to Adam Karim, 18, of Coquitlam and Pitt Meadows Golf Club, who found time in between his university studies at UBC to shoot 75 for a one shot victory. Tied for second spot behind Karim with a score of 76 were Ren Han, 18, of Richmond, and Aaron Hale, 21, of Surrey.
