KENNEDY CREAM OF THE CROP AT MJT’S LISTOWEL STOP
Listowel, ON - (September 26, 2009) – Listowel Golf Club in Listowel hosted the third stop in the Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s (MJT) five-event One Day Fall Series on Saturday, September 26, where Brett Kennedy of Kitchener won the Boys 17-19 division title as well as low overall for the tournament field.
Kennedy, 17, after being “three-times a bridesmaid” this season with three second place finishes, bore down to win his first MJT division title after firing a two-over-par 74 in the tournament. The runner-up in his division was Dylan Smallwood, 17, of Cambridge, who shot 76, while Javier Diaz, 17, of Woodbridge, took third place with a score of 79. Kennedy also won the division’s Sundog Skills Competition while Mark Hill, 17, of Kitchener, won the division’s Mr. Lube Long Drive.
Truman Tai, 15, of Markham, won his second MJT Boys 14-16 division title for the Fall Series, carding 75 to edge runner-up Jordan Williamson, 15, of Cambridge, by one stroke. This very competitive division saw a four-way tie for third place at 78 between Oliver Stephens, 14, of Sarnia, Kody Fry, 15, of Grand Valley, Joshua Hall, 16, of Vineland, and Ryan Amos, 15, of Komoka. MJT newcomer Joshua Hall won the division’s Mr. Lube Long Drive and Dylan Hamara, 16, of Cambridge, won the Sundog Skills.
11-year-old Max Clift of Kitchener also claimed his second MJT title in Boys 13 and under after posting his best tournament score this season of 75. Second place went to Mark Wodz, 11, of Scarborough, who carded 84. Tyler Douse, 12, of Waterloo, took third place with a score of 86 and cleaned up his division’s Mr. Lube Long Drive and Sundog Skills Competitions.
