SMALLWOOD LOW OVERALL AT STRATFORD
Stratford, ON - (September 14, 2009) – The second stop in the Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s (MJT) five-event One Day Series played out on Stratford Country Club in Stratford on Saturday, September 12, where Dylan Smallwood of Cambridge won low overall as well as the Boys 14-16 division title and Mr. Lube Long Drive competition.
Smallwood, 16, a five year veteran of the MJT, claimed his first division title after shooting 76, edging runner-up and MJT Team Canada to Scotland player, Kody Fry, 15, of Grand Valley, by one stroke. There was a tie for third place in the division at 78 between 16-year-olds Andrew Moffat of Brantford and Dylan Hamara of Cambridge. Matt Gerber, 15, of Kitchener, won the division’s Sundog Closest-to-the-Pin (KP) competition.
Another MJT Team Canada player, Sterling Emery, 18, of Orangeville, carded 78 to take first place in the Boys 17-19 division, beating out Neil Khosla, 17, of Mississauga, and Luca Trisi, 17, of Toronto. Emery also won the division’s Mr. Lube Long Drive competition; Shane Therrien, 18, of Old Castle, won the Sundog ‘KP’ prize.
In the Boys 13 and under division, MJT newcomer Hanish Nagrani, 13, of Welland, fired a fine score of 77 to win by four strokes over Max Clift, 11, of Kitchener, and Brandon Raine, 13, of Caledon. Nagrani also won his division’s ‘KP’ prize while the Long Drive went to Trevor Ranton, 12, of Waterloo.
