MJT Canaccord Capital City Series at Langara GC

ON PAR AT FIRST STOP IN MJT CANACCORD CAPITAL CITY SERIES

Vancouver, BC – The first of the three fall tournaments in the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s Canaccord Capital City Series in Vancouver was held at Langara Golf Course this weekend, where a full field of junior golfers participated in the one day event.

14-year-old Brock Staller, of Surrey, BC, fired an even par 71 off the blue tees to take low overall honours as well as the Boys 14-16 division title, which he won by three strokes over Sean Craigon, 16, of Maple Ridge, BC. “Sean Craigon had me worried the most,” said Staller, who won his division at this event in 2005 as a 13 year old, “but I drove the ball straight and made quite a few putts. My highlight was when I holed out with a wedge on number nine.” Runner-up Craigon shot 74. There was a three-way tie for third place in the division between John Lee, 15, of Port Coquitlam, BC, Harrison Clegg, 14, of Langley, BC, and Bailey Quinn, 16, of Sechelt, BC, who all shot 76.

Another even par round in the Girls division (71) scooped the champion’s trophy for Sue Kim, 15, of Langley, BC. “Coming down the stretch I was trying to keep myself together – all of the people I played with had me worried,” she said. “The best for me was I made four birdies in a row.” Two 12-year-old girls finished tied for second place behind Kim with scores of 75 - Anica Heera Yoo, of Port Coquitlam, and Jennifer Yang of Coquitlam.
