EMERY LOW OVERALL ON MJT AT CALEDON; RICHARD-MONRO TAKES FCWT SPOT
Caledon, ON – (August 9, 2010) – The Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada’s only national junior tour run exclusively by Canadian PGA Professionals, visited Caledon Golf Club in Caledon for the very first time in its 12 year history on the August 7th and 8th weekend, where Sterling Emery took low overall honours and Joshua Richard-Monro was the eligible qualifier for a paid entry into a Future Collegiate World Tour (FCWT) event of his choice in the USA.
Emery, 19, of Orangeville, closed with a final round of 72 in the Boys 17-19 division to beat runner-up Richard-Monro, 17, of Oakville, by five shots with his 150 total score, and stated, “Making an eagle on six was a highlight. I just stayed focused and did not worry about my competitors. Coming down the stretch I just thought to keep the ball in play.” Richard-Monro carded 78-77 for second low score overall, claiming the spot for boys aged between 14 and 18 to a FCWT event. Third place went to Nate Cross, 17, of London (85-82), who also cleaned up the Boys 17-19 division’s Mr. Lube Long Drive and Sundog Closest-to-the-Pin Competitions.
