International EventsMJT MAJOR QUALIFIERS AND INTERNATIONAL EVENTS The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour has a mandate to expose players to top competition for gaining experience and building great playing resumes. Since 1999 we have qualified players for many major national and international junior tournaments and provided financial assistance for expenses. Since 2006, Travel Underwriters, one of Canada’s leading providers of travel and health insurance products and services, has been designated the Official International Events Partner of the MJT. Support includes outfitting junior golfers attending international events through the MJT, and providing optional assistance with travel insurance and travel planning. Please check our schedule regularly for updates ____________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________ ![]() The Callaway Junior World Golf Championship will be held July 10th - 13th, 2012, at the world renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California (San Diego), USA. The MJT has two spots in the 15-17 Division (1 Boy and 1 Girl), and two spots in the 13-14 Division (1 Boy and 1 Girl) and will offer $500 in financial assistance towards expenses for the winner of this very prestigious event! The MJT Team Canada uniform, consisiting of golf shirts, a hat, and an MJT Team Canada Golf Bag, will be provided to the winners to wear and represent the MJT at this once in a lifetime opportunity! In its inaugural year, 475 juniors participated in the event representing seven countries and 20 states. Today, the tournament has grown to 1100 participants representing 54 countries and 42 states. The Championship flight is reserved for the top 32 stroke play qualifiers. The EAIJM is part of the Polo Junior All-American Points Series, GolfWeek/Sagarin and Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings. Past contestants and winners of the event include PGA Tour regulars Billy Mayfair, Billy Andrade, Dudley Hart, Jeff Sluman, Joey Sindelar and Rory Sabbatini. An open qualifier to one of the oldest major junior events in the world, the MJT is looking to push you to a dream opportunity to try to qualify for the 2012 United States Junior Amateur Championship, which is arguably the most difficult junior event to win. The MJT will qualify 3 players for this once in a lifetime opportunity. This event is conducted by the SC Junior Golf Association and the Country Club of Charleston and has a tremendous history of talented membership that includes Masters Champion Henry Picard, storied amateur Frank Ford, Beth Daniel, and many others that have gone on to success in the game. Their support of amateur and junior golf is second to none in South Carolina. The Country Club of Charleston was originally founded in 1786 and has been listed by the USGA as being the oldest golf club in the U.S. I t was also named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs in America." The current course, which was built in 1925, includes marshes that surround the entire layout. The MJT will qualify 1 player across Canada. This event is ranked by the AJGA, Golfweek and Jr. Golf Scoreboard, which gives players the greatest exposure to US College Coaches. The PGA Series and the MJT are very similar in make-up - all events are run by PGA and CPGA Professionals, who deliver high quality events to our participants. The PGA Junior Series continues to provide global and national exposure for each of its events. Each event is Nationally Ranked in the Golfweek/Titleist Performance Index and the Junior Golf Scoreboard. In the PGA Junior Series, the boy 16-18 and overall girl winners from the first four events will earn exemptions into the Callaway Golf Junior World Championships in San Diego, Calif., and the boy 16-18 and overall girl winners for all events will earn exemptions into the Junior PGA Championship in Fort Wayne, Indiana on August 2-5. This highly anticipated event, which is Golfweek, AJGA and JGS Ranked, will be scouted by college coaches across the country. GJT's goal is to conduct junior events which garner high visibility and national exposure through the various media outlets provided by Golfweek. GJT strives to bring tournaments to players of different regions so as to allow them to participate in many events which are of close proximity yet still part of the national tour. GJT also aims to provide players with events that are ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard, Golfweek and the American Junior Golf Association which will give players the exposure they are looking for to get their name out to college coaches. . The AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) is arguably the premier junior golf tour in the United States and will run approximately 90 events in 2011. The AJGA has roughly 5,000 members, and is highly regarded and studied by college coaches across the United States and Canada. The MJT is pleased to offer the following exemptions: MJT Boston Pizza National Tour Championship Boys 14-19 Champion: 1 tournament exemption Girls Champion: 1 tournament exemption MJT Cleveland Golf Order of Merit Ratings Final Standings (MJT will short-list the top player in each age division in each province based on their OOM Rating = best three finishes in order of merit points divided by three. The AJGA exemption will then go to the players with the lowest scoring average on the short-list in each division): Boys 17-19 Point Champion: 1 tournament exemption Boys 14-16 Point Champion: 1 tournament exemption Girls Point Champion: 1 tournament exemption Boys 13 & under Champion: 1 Junior All-Star (JAS) tournament exemption ____________________________________________________________________________ BY CALLAWAY GOLF AT THE LEGACY GOLF RESORT The MJT Boston Pizza National Tour Championship presented by Callaway Golf at The Legacy Golf Resort is an elite field invitational event for the top finishers in the MJT Cleveland Golf National Order of Merit (OOM) point ratings across Canada (best 3 finishes in OOM points divided by 3). A maximum of 72 of the MJT's best juniors will move West to Phoenix, Arizona, to The Legacy Golf Resort. Named one of the top 10 courses to play in the Phoenix area, The Legacy Resort will live up to it's reputation which is worthy of a National Championship venue. The event is held in NSW, Australia from October 2 - 5, 2012 beginning with the Jack Newton International Teams Championship. The Teams Championship portion is a warm up to the Srixon International Junior Classic and will be 2-person Team format, with the first day best-ball format and the second day foursomes. The Srixon International Junior Classic is a 72 hole stroke-play event and will be played on the Maitland Golf club, Hunter Valley NSW (2 hours North of Sydney). The MJT will qualify a total of 4 players to compete in this major Australian junior golf event which is an incredible golf and life experience brought together “down under” in this once in a lifetime qualifier. From the five qualifying sites, we will qualify the low 2 Boys and 2 Girls, who will receive major funding from both the MJT and the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation. The Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation was founded in 1986 to introduce more young people to the game and to nurture their skills and enjoyment of the sport.
