Program Description:
The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is the only national junior golf tour in Canada run exclusively by Golf Professionals and is endorsed by PGA Tour veteran Ray Stewart. The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, formerly the Western Canada Junior Golf Tour, expanded from an original base in British Columbia in 1999 to include the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. The MJT is proud to play a role in developing young players, including several Canadian National Junior Champions such as Kevin Klebe, Mike Mezei, Darren Wallace (Cdn Men’s Amateur), Mitchell Fox, Eom-Ji Park, Inah Park, Nick Taylor, Soo Bin Kim, Eugene Wong and many, many Future Links and Provincial Junior Champions. The MJT also provides opportunities for young Canadians to learn how to golf and introduces players as young as four years old to the game via free instructional clinics. In addition, the MJT encourages young players to further their education with scholarship monies, as well as providing letters of recommendation and other support services for the procurement of college scholarships. All MJT Tournament Directors are qualified CPGA Professionals who instruct golf and run tournaments, building golf skills and teaching sportsmanship and etiquette, fostering the meeting of new people and having fun. The MJT is proud to offer the best value to parents and junior golfers with the least expensive entry fees for a major junior tour across Canada, as well as being the only one with favourable refund and payment policies, free clinics and significant subsidy of international competition, reducing the cost burden for juniors where possible.
