Histroy of the IJM

The International Junior Masters (IJM) is one of America's oldest and most prestigious junior events, attracting players from South Africa, Canada, Mexico, France, Scotland, Japan, Columbia, Peru and the United States. The 2017 event is scheduled to run June 26th - June 30th.

First played in 1953, the tournament features 36 holes of Stroke Play to qualify for flights of Match Play. The Championship flight is reserved for the top 32 stroke play qualifiers. The IJM is part of the Polo Junior All-American Points Series, GolfWeek/Sagarin and Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings.

Past contestants and winners of the event include PGA Tour regulars Billy Mayfair, Billy Andrade, Dudley Hart, Jeff Sluman, Joey Sindelar and Rory Sabbatini.

The winner receives an invitation to the AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions, Polo Golf Junior Classic and the AJGA hp Boys Junior Championship and full AJGA exempt status. The top 4 results receive two AJGA exemptions and the top 8 receive one AJGA exemption.
