MJT announces slew of talented 2022 MJT National Award Winners Players of the Year, Junior and Mini Tour Order of Merit

Vancouver, BC – (October 13, 2022) - The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada's number one-played junior golf tour, is pleased to announce the major award winners for 2022, namely the MJT Players of the Year and the MJT Order of Merit winners in every region across the country.

 

With regards to the national 2022 Players of the Year, the top juniors in each of the six age divisions based on their scoring averages in a required minimum number of tournament rounds are as follows:

 

MJT Girls U15 Player of the Year: Eileen Park (Red Deer, AB)

MJT Girls 15-19 Player of the Year: Tina Jiang (Richmond, BC)

MJT Peewee Boys Player of the Year: Jayden Arnold (Calgary, AB)

MJT Bantam Boys Player of the Year: Jaden August (Pitt Meadows, BC)

MJT Juvenile Boys Player of the Year: Charlie Gillespie (Calgary, AB)

MJT Junior Boys Player of the Year: Aneesh Kaura (Calgary, AB)

 

The MJT Players of the Year each receive a plaque along with $500 in funding, with an additional $500 towards expenses of participation in the MJT National Championship in Orlando, FLA, for those attending.

 

The 2022 MJT Junior Tour Order of Merit winners each receive a Certificate of Achievement and a Herschel prize pack, along with an additional $200 towards expenses of participation in the MJT National Championship for those attending. The winners in each age division of Girls U15, Girls 15-19, Boys 12U (Peewee), Boys 13-14 (Bantam), Boys 15-16 (Juvenile) and Boys 17-19 (Junior) respectively, based on cumulative point totals in each region, are in order as follows:

 

British Columbia: Rose Zhiyan Chen (Langley), Jessica Ng (Vancouver), Jeevyn Lotay (Burnaby), Jaden August (Pitt Meadows), Austin Krahn (Christina Lake), Luke Spencer (Vancouver).

Alberta: Olivia Johnson (Calgary), Carla van Remmen (Calgary), Jayden Arnold (Calgary), Ryan Johnson (Calgary), Ryan Garbutt (Edmonton), Christian Hansen (Okotoks).

Saskatchewan: Grace Odnokon (Saskatoon), Hallie Crozier (Regina), Lucas Sturgeon (Saskatoon), Jack Maharaj (Saskatoon), Darien Herlick (Weyburn), Chase Pochylko (Saskatoon).

Manitoba: Jewel Lafleche (Winnipeg), India Young (Carman), Hunter Oakden (Brandon), Brayden Boge (Winnipeg), Cashe McNabb (Calgary), Eric Prokopowich (Dauphin).

Ontario: Kaprice Park (Oakville), Nobelle Park (Oakville), Oscar Lin (Aurora), Brayden Card (Cambridge), Michael Collett (Bracebridge), Benjamin Hebert (Thorold).

Atlantic Canada: Neve Miller (Dieppe, NB), Jadian Eisenhauer (Falmouth, NS), Carter Lavigne (Moncton, NB), Kooper MacKay (Wolfville, NS), Zachary Gaudet (Truro, NS), Miguel Babineau (Dieppe, NB).

 

The 2022 MJT Mini Tour (12U) Order of Merit winners each receive a Certificate of Achievement and a complimentary MJT Membership in 2023. The winners in each age division of Girls 8U, Girls 9-10, Girls 11-12, Boys 8U, Boys 9-10 and Boys 11-12 respectively, based on cumulative point totals in each region, are in order as follows:

 

British Columbia: Victoria Shen (Surrey), Jody Li (Burnaby), Kathleen Dunn (Surrey), Tianyang (Sky) Zhou (Surrey), James (Chenrui) Qiu (Surrey), Tiger Zhao (Vancouver).

Alberta: Ain Lee (Sylvan Lake), Camilla Ruesga-Rojas (Calgary), Raylee Denton (Red Deer), Elliott Miller (High River), Edwin Park (Bentley), Solomon Tong (Heritage Pointe).

Saskatchewan: Makinlee McCrystal (Regina), Alyxa Melsted (Wynyard), Miranda Merriman (La Ronge), Hudson Deibert (Regina), Keaton Kreklewich (Melville), Tylan Wallin (Humboldt).

Manitoba: Angelina Sitarz /Maisy Shewchuk (Girls 9-10 joint winners, Winnipeg), Ryan Small (Boys 8U, Winnipeg) Grant Secord (La Salle) /Forrest Wiebe (MacGregor) (joint winners Boys 9-10), Xavier Delaquis (Winnipeg) /Austin Tutkaluk (Brandon) (joint winners Boys 11-12).

Ontario: Charlotte Black (Paris), Sofia Rocca (Sarnia), Rosalynn Liu (Toronto), Isaac Min (North York), Derek Zhao (Maple), Ethan Tan (Oakville).

Atlantic Canada: Ariyah Sock (Girls 8U, Elsipogtog FN, NB), Xavier Wheaton (Boys 8U, Memramcook, NB), Pax LeBlanc (Boys 9-10, Grand-Barachois, NB).

 

An additional $12,000 in scholarship monies is also to be awarded to twelve other MJT members for the 2022 MJT Herrendorf Family Foundation scholarships. These will be announced shortly.
