Major player in Manitoban junior golf joins Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour

 

Winnipeg, MB – (November 19, 2020) – The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada’s number-one played Junior Golf Tour with close to 90 events across the country scheduled for 2021, is excited to announce that Adam Boge and Glen Sirkis of Golf Mentor Group will take on the role of Tournament Directors in Manitoba.

Golf Mentor Group offers top rated Junior Golf Programs such as Future Links, Camps and Junior Leagues, and was recognized as Golf Canada’s Junior Facility of the Year in 2014 and 2017. Glen Sirkis and Adam Boge, owners and co-founders, coach and mentor golfers who either want to learn or take their games to the next level. Boge and Sirkis captured the PGA of Canada’s Junior Leader of The Year Award in both 2013 and 2015, showing their commitment to growing the game and developing our youth. Boge is a Class “A” Teaching Professional based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, who started his career at Pine Ridge Golf Club before the becoming head golf professional at St. Boniface Golf Club. Sirkis is well recognized in Manitoba having worked at multiple facilities including Tuxedo Golf Club and Carman Golf and Curling. Sirkis was also an instructor for City of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba Bison’s golf programs.

Sirkis and Boge will be taking over the reins from 17-year MJT veteran Tournament Directors, Garth Goodbrandson and Ed Boge, who are stepping back after building a great legacy of developing competitive young golfers in the province.  Goodbrandson is retiring after 39 years in the golf industry where he was Golf Manitoba’s Director of Player Development, Provincial Coach, co-founder and coach of the University of Manitoba Golf Team. Ed Boge, former Head Professional at Transcona Golf Club, assisted Goodbrandson in Golf Manitoba’s developmental program while also acting as assistant coach to the University of Manitoba Golf Team.

“It is great news for junior golfers in the province that PGA of Canada Professionals of the caliber of Glen and Adam have come on board to continue Garth and Ed’s legacy,” said Elaine Denton, MJT Director of Marketing and Administration. “We are thrilled to have their experience contribute to the quality of a program which is entering its 23rd season nationally.”

Golf Mentor Group plan to release the 2021 tournament schedule early next year, and hope to add more Winnipeg venues to the circuit for 11 to 19-year olds, along with a Mini Tour for players aged seven to 12. When asked about their new role with the MJT, Adam Boge said, “Our Golf Mentor Group team is excited to join the MJT and continue with the development of aspiring young golfers in the province via the best-in-class junior tournaments."

The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour aims to develop champions, in golf and in life, promoting the game from grassroots through to provincial, national, university and professional level.
