MJT TOUR SPOKESPEOPLE

Vancouver, BC -The Maple Leaf Junior Tour is pleased to announce a new partnership with PGA Tour Professionals Ray Stewart and Dave Barr.
Stewart and Barr have joined the Maple Leaf Tour as the volunteer national spokespeople for the non-profit association. In addition, Stewart was host of the inaugural MJT Team Challenge at Crown Isle Golf Resort this June in support of the Maple Leaf Tour.
Barr, of Westbank, British Columbia, brings a wealth of experience to the MJT as a two-time PGA Tour winner (Quad Cities Open; Georgia-Pacific Atlanta Golf Classic), and Champions Tour Winner (2003 Royal Caribbean Classic). Barr has many other professional victories including multiple Canadian Tour Open Championships, International Mixed Team Championships and Cadillac Skins Games, the National CPGA Championship, the World Cup (with Dan Halldorson) and the Alfred Dunhill Cup (with Rick Gibson and Ray Stewart).
?Playing golf alongside the best players in the world for the past 30 years I know what I takes,? said Barr. ?For Canadian golf to thrive and young golfers to reach their potential, you need well organized competition from an early age and to have the opportunity to play on the Maple Leaf Tour is a huge advantage.?
Stewart, of Abbotsford, British Columbia, is another Tour veteran as an eight year member of the PGA Tour and member of the Canadian, European and Asian Tours. His resume includes many victories such as the Alfred Dunhill Cup (with Dave Barr, Rick Gibson) as well Canadian Tour and Canadian Masters wins. Both Stewart and Barr have represented Canada in international team competition in World Cup and Alfred Dunhill Cup events against the best players in the world.
?It is nice to team up with Canadian PGA Professionals, many of whom I?ve known for a long time, to help develop junior golf,? said Stewart.
As volunteer National Spokespeople, both Barr and Stewart hope to help develop the program in all provinces in Canada and attend junior member clinics.
"Ray and Dave bring a great deal of experience to the Maple Leaf Tour," said Murray Poje, Executive Director. "The respect they command as seasoned and honourable professionals certainly adds to our program. It is also incredibly generous of them to accept this voluntary position of national endorsement, which is indicative of their characters.?
The non-profit Maple Leaf Tour, Canada?s only major junior tour run exclusively by Golf Professionals, conducts high level multi-day tournaments across Canada for junior boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 23. The Maple Leaf Tour also sends teams to international events and presents the six-event Canadian PGA Junior Championship Series.
