Maple Leaf Team plays well in New York!

The MJT had four players from across Canada in the 2004 East Aurora International Junior Masters Tournament (EAIJM).
The week long tournament is one of the oldest and most prestigious junior golf tournaments held in the United States and is conducted using the same format as the RCGA Canadian Amateur with participants playing 36 holes of stroke play to qualify for match play. The twist is the EAIJM has 4 flights, Championship, Gold, Silver and Bronze where the Amateur has only one flight.
Dale Stypula from Cranbrook BC and Paul Deuzeman from Cobourg ON qualified for the Championship flight with top 32 scores. Stypula won his first round match defeating Corey Johnson from the US 1 up. Deuzeman wasn't so lucky, and went into the consolation flight after losing his first match to Brad Larente.
In the quarterfinals, Stypula faced a hot playing Steven Jackson from Toronto and was defeated 4 & 2 ending his bid for the title.
Deuzeman played New Yorker Jake Katz and lost 3 & 2.
Joon Heui Lee of Surrey BC played in the Silver bracket, suffering a devasting loss in the first round of the after 19 holes to Matt Canavan of Saratoga Springs NY.
Will Porter of Cranbrook BC qualified for the gold flight and began his matches on Thursday morning. First he defeated Hugh Lidstrom of Wesley Chapel, FL 2 up. That afternoon he faced Adam Hogue from Plymouth, MI and won 3 & 2. In The Semi finals on Friday morning he faced Chris Singleton from Niagara Falls and won 2 & 1. Friday afternoon he was in the Gold Final vs Jean- Phillipe Paiement of Quebec. Paiement was on a hot streak after winning his morning match 6 & 5 and his roll continued in the final as he bested Porter 4 & 3. Will Porter played 36 holes of stroke play and 4 rounds of match play in 4 days.
