Stefureak streaks to victory on MJT at Paris Grand

Paris, ON – (October 28, 2012) – The final stop on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s (MJT) Ontario One Day Fall Series played out in cold and rainy weather on Saturday October 27th at Paris Grand Golf Club in Paris, where players competed for four division titles in the Boston Pizza-sponsored circuit.

15-year-old Craig Stefureak of Caledonia won Low Overall honours together with his Boys 14-16 Division title after shooting a tidy 75 in very difficult conditions. “It feels great to get another MJT win under my belt,” he stated, adding, “My ball striking kept me alive out there as my putter was very weak.” The Boys 17-19 Division title went to 18-year old Mahir Omar of Mississauga, who fired 83. Mahir commented about his win that ‘it makes a cold day a little warmer.’ 13-year-old Jake Bryson of Dunrobin who won the Boys 13 and Under title with a score of 82, said, “It feels great (to win)! I know I battled hard and I can’t wait to tell all my friends. It felt great to see my name on top. It was quite an experience.” In the Girls Division, Alexandra Garcia, 16, of Kitchener, won via retrogression over Skylar Turkiewicz of Brantford, after both carded scores of 99. “It feels great to finish the season with a win on the MJT,” said Garcia.

The Mr. Lube Long Drive Competition in each division was won by Isaac Maxwell of Orangeville, Ryan Hagey of Kitchener, and Skylar Turkiewicz, while the divisional Sundog Eyewear Closest-to-the-Pin Competitions were won by Josh Hagey of Kitchener, Konnor Rossdeutscher of Cambridge, Brett Kudoba of Kitchener, and Skylar Turkiewicz once again. Golf Town Comeback Awards went to Bavake Sihota of Caledon, Gray Potter of Glen Williams, Brett Kudoba of Kitchener, and Aly Medeiros of Burlington.
