The Boston Pizza-presented
Western Canada Junior Golf Tour held the Cattermole Timber Junior at
Mayfair Lakes Golf Club this past weekend, where a field of 106 juniors
braved cold 30-50 km winds.
Eleven year old Richard Lee (Vancouver) shot a 74 Saturday which
was the low opening round for the entire field. On Sunday he was tied
after 16 holes with playing partner Jonnie Motomochi (North Delta),
who ended up in control with scores of 77-79 (156) to win the Boys 12 &
Under Division as well as a spot in the Junior World Championships in San
Diego, CA, this July. Motomochi will be joined at this top international
championship by Darren Wallace and Jessica Wallace, both
from Langley, who won the 13-14 Boys spot and 11-12 Girls spot
respectively.
After being tied for the lead with Maple Ridge's Helen Jung, Eom
Ji Park (Vancouver) continued her domination of the Girls Division by
surging ahead of both Jung and Jessica Potter (Coquitlam) and
winning the third tournament in a row with scores of 79-76 (155).
Richmond juniors won both the Boys 15-16 and 17-18 Divisions (Andrew
Hutchinson and Gordon Keillor respectively) and Aaron
Collier of Coquitlam won both the Intermediate Division title and
Skills Competition. Other Sundog Eyewear Skills Competition winners were
Jonnie Motomochi, Mitchell Lock (Mission), Paul Kwon
(Burnaby), Don Seol (South Surrey) and Carla Ty.
