Great Finale in Calgary for Western Canada
Junior Golf Tour Season |

The Boston
Pizza-presented Western Canada Junior Golf Tour held the final event
of the regular season at McKenzie Meadows Golf Course in Calgary this
past Monday and Tuesday.
Over 90 players from Alberta, Saskatchewan and BC enjoyed a course
which was set up suberbly for low scoring and in near perfect
conditions for golf, Jace Barros of Edmonton (Boys 12 & Under) shot
74-76 (150) to win by 9 strokes over Dallas Mengel of Watrous, SK.
In the Boys 13 -14 Division, Brian Wolsey from Lethbridge held off
late challenges from Mitchell Fox and Jesse Galvon (both of Calgary)
and won with scores of 73-74 (147).
Scott Stiles (Calgary) was the winner of the Boys 15-16 Division with
a two under par total of 142. Michael Knight (Calgary) closed with a
72 for second spot, and Kyle Mossfeldt (Calgary) placed third.
In the Boys 17-18 Division, Darcy Macdonald (Calgary) and Steven Biel
(Stony Plain), tied with 2 over par totals of 146, and Jeremy Fischer
of Medicine Hat placed third at 148.
Ryan Vallely of Lethbridge, who opened with an impressive 65 in the
Intermediate Division, closed with a second round 76 for a 141 total
and won over Kevin Gouthro from St. Albert, who shot 71 in the second
round.
In the Girls Division, Susan Nam of Edmonton won her second title on
the Western Canada Junior Tour by 4 shots over Mackenzie Renner of
Coaldale.
Division winners each received an exemption into the WCJGT
Invitational at the PGA Tour's Air Canada Championship at Northview
GC, Vancouver, BC, August 31-September 1, 2002. This season-ending
tournament is preceeded by the WCJGT's Boston Pizza Tour Championship
at Peace Portal Golf Club in South Surrey, BC, for which the elite
field of 54 players have qualifed all season long.
