SCOBIE SCOOPS LOW OVERALL ON MJT AT NATIONAL PINES

Aug 2, 2010

Barrie, ON – (August 2, 2010) – Matthew Scobie, 15, of Ajax, fired a great opening round score of 69 to lead the field in the MJT Ontario Series at National Pines GC in Barrie, ON, and held onto his lead with a 75 on day two to finish at 144 total score, scooping the Boys 14-16 gold medal, low overall, and the FCWT spot. “I was able to make some key putts,” said Scobie. “My highlight was my overall performance on the par fives – I was able to take advantage of them. It feels really good to know I can compete against the players that were in this field this week.” The other division winners were Nicholas Quesnel of Sudbury (84-75) in Boys 13 & under, Sterling Emery of Orangeville (74-75) in Boys 17-19 and Kirsten Degutis of Waterloo (92-92) in the Girls Division.
