HAMARA QUALIFIES FOR CAN-USA TEAM MATCHES AT MJT’S NEW WINDSOR STOPJul 13, 2010 Windsor, ON – (July 12, 2010) – The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) visited Windsor for the very first time in its 12 year history on the July 10th and 11th weekend, to introduce players in the region to Canada’s only national junior tour run exclusively by Canadian PGA Professionals, and qualify an eligible player for the Future Collegiate World Tour (FCWT) CAN-USA Team Matches at the Ritz Carlton at Dove Mountain Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona, USA, December 11th and 12th. Three year MJT member, Dylan Hamara, 17, of Cambridge and Whistle Bear Golf Club, fired 72-70 (142) to win the Boys 17-19 gold medal by seven strokes, and claim the spot to Tucson. “Coming down the stretch I was thinking, ‘I want to shoot 69 so I need to make birdies…,’” he said, noting that his competitors had him worried from the start. “Key to my victory was that my wedges were going close.” Runner-up to Hamara in his division was Anthony Dadamo, 18, of Windsor and Sutton Creek Golf Club, who carded 72-77 (149) for the silver medal, while A.J. Flanagan, 17, of St. George and Whistle Bear Golf Club, took bronze (80-77=157). To see full results go to RECENT RESULTS on the right hand side of the webpage and find your event name.
